What problems might I encounter when setting up a wireless network?

Cables

If the router is being used to setup a wired network, check all of the cables to be used. Cables can become crimped or scraped over time and may not transfer data properly. Using damaged cables to connect your computers to a router may cause dropped connections or prevent a computer from detecting the network or router. Visually inspect the cables for severe scrapes or cuts that may prevent data transfer.

Router Settings

When setting up a router for a wireless network some additional work may be required to properly alter the router settings for your network. It may be required to temporarily connect to the router using a wired connection in order to set up your wireless configuration, according to Microsoft. Be sure that any computers trying to connect to your wireless router are in range of the wireless signal and are using the correct password.
